Guest Options:

Unlimited studio time is complementary and included in your room rental. You are welcome to bring your own artist materials and your room reservation includes one 8x10 or 11x14 gessoed panel per day, professional quality brushes, professional artist quality oil pigments and solvents. Just show up.

We have a selection of larger panels and canvas available for purchase.

We can arrange for the shipment of completed work when it’s dry.

Reserve one, or both rooms in the Geodesic Dome Guest House. Each room is special and includes a queen size bed, comfortable chairs, a desk, wall mounted 4K TV and blu ray player, refrigerator and a microwave. Each room is it’s own small museum with original art, photography and display cases filled with space and astronomy related items.

Breakfast is included and served in the center dome. The center dome is open to all and includes large table and chairs, couch, and kitchenette with electric stove.

We include a complementary orientation to the property and your studio.

No minimum stay.

Complementary use of over 1000 DVD’s, books and other materials from our lending library during your stay.

Complementary use of an Oculus Quest VR headset with art applications. Try something new.

We are a remote high altitude desert location. We are a long way from emergency services. Please read the page on visiting Lost Sky Ranch to make sure your stay is as comfortable and safe as possible.

Check In is at 12 PM the day of the reservation.

Check Out is at 11 AM the following day.

Our facility offers a choice of two rooms and one RV site. This limitation allows us to provide a high level of individualized service to each of our customers. Because of this we also request a 25% non-refundable deposit at the time of your reservation.

Lost Sky Ranch Studio:

Our studios are located in a separate building from the guest rooms. The Studio / Warming Room has working space for two artists. This includes a professional easel, a glass topped taboret for mixing paint, and a wall mounted HD monitor with USB or HDMI laptop input for reference materials.

The studio is open 24 hours and you have unlimited access. (Note: this is also a shared work space for our astronomer guests so there may be some restrictions on using white lights after sunset.) Each work space includes desk space for laptops. We also offer a selection of materials for creating still life compositions and drawing practice.

Additional Services:

Coaching and critiquing of your work is available upon request. If you don’t ask, we won’t comment.

Plein Air Outings. There’s no FOMO here. You can plein air paint both desert and mountain views directly from the property or we can arrange a guided plein air outing to one of our favorite nearby locations. You can use your own plein air equipment or if you’ve never tired it, we can supply equipment for you to try.

Enjoy a private star party in one of our observatories. Our remote location offers some of the best views of the night sky available within the Continental United States. This is a rare opportunity. If you’re new to astronomy this will be an introduction that you won’t forget.

We understand that your primary interest may be art, but the New Mexico dark sky is an inspirational experience not to be missed.  If you stay for three nights or longer we will treat you to a complementary individual star party in one of our observatories.
